The PMC Tree — Last week we had a picture of the tree on the north side of the hospital and I remarked on how colorful is was. We did not know what type of tree is was so I called Warren at Coulter Gardens in Amarillo and texted him the photo. He sent me the following information. “That is an eastern redbud tree! It likes it dry and does best on the east side of building or house in a dry location. We have it in several sizes. We also have Oklahoma red bud, merlot redbud, weeping redbud, rise-n-shine redbud, sparkling wine redbud, cotton candy redbud and 4-5 more varieties available also. Oklahoma and merlot redbuds take the heat and wind better than the eastern redbud. Redbud trees start at $98.95 (5ft) and go up to $529.95 (10ft) with lots in between. Redbuds are very slow growing (1” a year).”
