Prairie Acres News - Mario Gavina is the Prairie Acres Resident of the Month for August. Employee of the Month is Bertha Mendoza. She works in the Laundry Department and joined the staff in October of 2016.

GasBuddy - Average gasoline prices in Texas fell 10.2 cents last week, averaging $3.00 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's survey of 13,114 stations in Texas. The lowest price in the state was $2.62 per gallon. The national average price of diesel fell 2.3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.76 per gallon. "With oil prices plummeting due to new concerns over the U.S. economy after a poor jobs report, gasoline prices have seen downside in many states," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Rosales Named Superintendent

At a special called meeting Wednesday morning, the Friona ISD Board of Trustees unanimously selected Daniel Rosales to become Superintendent of Friona Schools. Rosales is the 15th individual in school history to serve in that capacity. Last year, he served as Director of Human Resources and Student Services. Rosales is a graduate of West Texas A&M University and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History & Social Studies, a Master's Degree in Finance & Economics, and has earned Teaching, Principal, and Superintendent Certification.

In the photo - The Rosales Family (l-r) Aaron, Eli, Nancy, Javi, and Daniel. For the 2024-25 school year, the family will represent each part of the district. Javi (5) will be in Kindergarten at the Primary School, Nancy is a Counselor at the Elementary School, Eli (13) will be an 8th grader in Junior High, Aaron (16) will be a Junior in High School, and Daniel's office is in the Administration Building.
